About the Event
Small Group Discussions on Self & Identity  with  Dr. Phyllis Jensen  for MEMBERS
In The Undiscovered Self, Jung says the medieval view is that humans are a microcosm, a reflection of the great cosmos in miniature, but this idea has long since dropped away, and modern persons in adapting themselves to their social-cultural environments have become so attached to an identity or concept of self (persona) that it’s taken the place of their real being with a subsequent loss of touch with their instinctual Self.  The result is that their thoughts progressively replace reality and real self.  Thus, knowing the self  becomes a challenging process of consciously observing and investigating one’s thoughts vis-a-vis one’s world.  Helpful here is an examination of ascription, proscription and projection, and the roles these play in one’s sense of self & identity.Â
